Musée d’Orsay

The Orsay Museum was championed by French president Valéry Giscard d’Estaing. It opened in 1986 in the former Orsay train station. This enormous building was classified as a historical monument in 1978.

It is the ideal backdrop to present Western art from 1848 to 1914 to the general public. This museum features the largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings in the world with 1,100 canvases.
